90 Day Fiancé Alum Paola Mayfield Weighs In On If She Dislikes WOW Leaning Into Reality TV Past

While Paola Mayfield once wanted to separate her current professional wrestling career from her past as a cast member of 90 Day Fiancé, the current Women of Wrestling star now embraces her reality TV past.

Reality television has forever changed the entertainment business by turning regular people into celebrities recognized by millions. It is a blessing and a curse. But it would seem like a huge benefit for 90 Day alum Paola Mayfield as she made the unexpected transition to pro wrestling several years ago. Furthermore, her current home, WOW, seems to feel the same way and leans into her notoriety as a veteran of the popular TLC show.

However, early in her career, the 38-year-old actually wanted to chart a path in the business free from the show. And at one point, she even went by the name Paola Blaze. Yet, she realized trying to “separate both worlds” was more difficult than she expected. That is why she now embraces her reality TV history as one of WOW’s fastest-rising stars.

“I did want to disconnect a little bit,” she told Ringside Intel. “I wanted to separate both worlds. But it is hard. Because people know me from [90 Day Fiancé], and I cannot change that. It is what it is. There’s nothing wrong with that.

“[Changing her last name to] Blaze was great. There are a lot of Blazes out there. There aren’t many Paolas. It just catches much better. [But using Mayfield] is much better. I don’t have to create different [identities]. Blaze had nothing to do with anything about me. I am too Latina to be a Blaze,” she said with a laugh.

While she is still only a few years into her wrestling career, Mayfield has the skills and charateristics necessary to eventually reach major companies like TNA, AEW, or WWE. However, while she is not an exclusive WOW talent, she is in no rush to move on from the company.

She actually has hopes of eventually winning the brand’s top title and becoming the face for the unique all female wrestling company.

“There is no exclusivity with them. But right now, I am just focused on WOW and growing in WOW,” she says. “In the future, maybe I can go and represent WOW in other companies when I become the WOW champion. That would be great. I would love to do that.”
