Current AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy is getting a huge push with the title from the company. A recent report outlines the reason behind this.

Why Orange Cassidy Is Getting Pushed

As per a PWInsider report by Mike Johnson, Cassidy’s push with the International Championship has been designed to elevate the title to “headlining” status. According to the report, AEW has been trying to “level up” this championship for months.

This is so that it can be used in the upcoming new Saturday evening show, Collision. The new brand show is set to launch on June 17th.

It’s important to note that there’s no indication that the International title will be exclusive to the new show. Still, AEW’s current promotion of it was to “ascend” the championship to become more prestigious.

With that being said, Cassidy has been featured quite a bit in the media materials of AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery. Collision was formally introduced last week.

The AEW talent has been International Champion for over 222 days. He scored the title from the inaugural champion, PAC on October 12th of last year.

With over 21 successful title defense matches, and having bouts several times every month, “Freshly Squeezed” has proved himself to be an incredible champion. During his reign, he’s defeated the likes of Jeff Jarrett, Katsuyori Shibata, Buddy Mathews, Bandido, and Jay Lethal.

His latest defense win came on the May 10th edition of Dynamite. He was successful at retaining the title against Daniel Garcia of the Jericho Appreciation Society.
