Disgraced National Champion wrestler AJ Ferrari has decided on his future home after two years away from the sport following serious off-the-mat troubles.

Three years ago, Oklahoma State 197-pounder AJ Ferrari was on a path to being an amateur wrestling superstar. And a long-term star in the sport. He brought the university a national title in 2021, but soon after his life and career spiraled into some dark places.

In 2022 he began the season 10-0 but his campaign was derailed when he and cross-country runner Isai Rodriguez were involved in a serious car accident. With his season over, he unfortunately got himself in big trouble in July of that year when he was accused of sexual assault. It led to his dismissal from the program soon after.

Yet, that wasn’t where it ended. The following month he was then charged with sexual battery. Fortunately for him, the case was dismissed in October of that year. It made him a pariah in the sport and many schools were not interested in bringing him in until he got his life together.

Over the last two years, he has competed outside NCAA competitions as an unattached athlete and he would have won the Soldier Salute tournament title in December if not for a post-match scuffle. With his life seemingly headed in a better direction it has led to his name popping up in recruiting speculation. And earlier this year he looked to be committed to Iowa.

However, earlier this week he revealed where he will compete in 2024-25, and it won’t be for the Hawkeyes. Instead, he announced on his X account that he is taking his talents to Cal State Bakersfield next season. CSB is ranked as the 69th-best wrestling program in the nation on WrestleStat ahead of the new season.

If AJ Ferrari can keep his nose clean, he will be a massive addition to the Roadrunners.
