We know people within the WWE Universe are passionate…and now we can say that NXT fans nearly took the show off the air due to cursing.
No, seriously.
Fans were dropping some heated chants at newly minted heel Carmelo Hayes. It was just too much for the censors to bear.
Per reports, fans in the Performance Center were told they needed to stop or else things could be taken down.
NXT Cursing Fans Nearly Took The Show Off Air
Now, fans were understandably heated because of the previously mentioned heel turn.
Carmelo Hayes was a popular top NXT baby face a week ago.
After Sunday’s Vengeance Day, he has become a heel. Based on how Tuesday’s show went, he may be the most hated heel in NXT.
Perhaps he’s the most hated man in WWE not named The Rock.
It was an interesting night for NXT, to be sure.
According to Fightful, there were conversations about what to do with fan response to Ava Raine, as well as any time a WrestleMania 40 graphic might be show. Especially if one featured The Rock.
As we know, any time a Rock graphic has been shown since Friday’s happening, it has not been well received.
Fans were also told to not flip off Carmelo Hayes, as well as to avoid the profane chants, because the entire segment would be at risk.
And…it very nearly was, especially thanks to those chants.
As someone who has heard some really crazy things as a teen going to ECW shows…these things happen, but they are not great for TV because of rules.
But, thinking about it from the perspective of wrestling? WWE knew Trick Williams was getting over, based on recent reactions.
I am not sure anyone could have expected Hayes to generate the amount of heat he has for the turn. But here we are and he is scorching.
Don’t love to see the near-shut down of the show. However, folks in the back have to be happy with the response.
