Despite rebukes from those close to him, a new report suggests there were obvious signs Hulk Hogan’s health was in a serious decline before he passed away on Thursday.
Former pal turned enemy, Bubba the Love Sponge, was the first to report that Hogan was in very poor health following recent surgery on his spine. However, long-time friend Eric Bishoff, and Hogan’s wife, Sky, denied those claims in the weeks following the report.

Well, as the world now knows, there was truth to the radio host’s reporting, and Wrestling Observer Newsletter reporter Dave Meltzer backed up the validity of Bubba the Love Sponge’s sources this week.
“Bubba pretty much had legit info the whole time,” Meltzer wrote. “Basically, what happened with Hulk was they took him out of the hospital and made a hospital in his house, as there wasn’t much left they could do.”
The veteran wrestling insider claimed that after his May 14th surgery, Hogan “had been intubated and was having renal failure and fluid overload as well as severe COPD, or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.”
Sources claimed that over the last week, things really went downhill for the WWE legend. However, there were times where Hogan was improving enough that the claims debunking his poor health weren’t falsehoods to quiet the speculation.
“One person close to him over the past week had noted that, at the time, he was not quite as bad off as Bubba had been saying, it was also a lot worse than anything anyone else was saying,” Meltzer added.
