TNA Wrestling Superstar Reveals Scrapped Plans For Feud With CM Punk After His AEW Departure

One of Impact and TNA Wrestling’s biggest stars of the last decade recently revealed that there were plans in place for him to feud with CM Punk back in 2023.

CM Punk is a divisive figure in professional wrestling history. To millions of fans he is a rebel looking to better the industry. And doing it with a cool factor that is second to none. However, to some of his colleagues in the business, he is viewed as difficult and cocky.

The wrestling legend’s passion for the industry was why he shockingly departed WWE over a decade ago. It is also why his run in AEW came to a surprising end two years ago after backstage altercations with several wrestlers on the roster. In November of 2023, hell froze over and he made his triumphant return to WWE. However, there were rumors that year of serious conversations to make the jump to TNA.

Well, long-time TNA and Impact Moose claims that if a contract had been signed, plans were for him to feud with the “Cult of Personality” upon his arrival.

Moose was set to feud with CM Punk in TNA?

“So while I was World Champ there were plans of Punk coming to TNA and us feuding,” TNA X Division champ Moose wrote in a post on X this week. “Punk vs Lesnar from SummerSlam 2013 is one of my favorite matches ever.

“I was looking forward to recreating something just as awesome. Obviously, it never happened. But who knows. Shout out to CMPunk. GOAT.”

Moose took on NXT Champion Oba Femi at NXT: Roadblock this week. WWE and TNA announced a new multi-year partnership a couple of months ago. With the working relationship as strong as ever and delivering positive numbers for both brands, that Moose vs. CM Punk idea could be revised at some point in the next couple of years.
