MJF is dealing with several injuries and has opted not to have surgery as he will compete at AEW Worlds Ends while hurt.
MJF Not Having Surgery, Plans To Work AEW Worlds End Hurt
AEW has invested lots of time and money into MJF, seeing him as the future of the company. This can be seen as he holds the AEW World Championship and ROH Tag Tag Championship.
MJF has been AEW World Champion for over a year. He is the first male superstar to accomplish such a feat.
Back in August, he became a double champion by winning the ROH Tag Tag Championship with Adam Cole. These two made history at All In after wining the tag titles to open the pre-show and then battled each other in the main event.
For some time, MJF has been working with two significant injuries. He has a torn labrum and a hip injury.
At Full Gear, MJF suffered the torn labrum in his left shoulder after a uranage from Jay White. Later in the match, MJF jumped off the top rope and landed atop White on the announce table.
The table actually broke before the spot, but the champion still hit the move. Basically, he did not want to disappoint the crowd.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, MJF will not have surgery as he looks to defend the AEW belt against Samoa Joe. They meet at Worlds End on December 30.
Considering the pain he is in, we might see a title change before the year ends. It has been a great year for MJF, but you can only wrestle through injuries for so long.
If anything, he needs to let the tag title go. AEW has bigger concerns than ROH’s tag division.
So, is MJF making a mistake skipping surgery to work the Worlds End pay per view?
