Kyle O’Reilly could be leaving NXT next if WWE does not act fast. Also, WWE has extended Tommaso Ciampa’s contract.
Kyle O’Reilly Leaving Next?
NXT looks and feels completely different than it did prior to the rebranding. Many of the staples in NXT are gone and in their place are new faces.
Some of the NXT veterans, like Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, are still there. Although, Gargano could be gone in a matter of days.
According to Fightful Select, Kyle O’Reilly opted not to re-sign when offered a new deal in 2019. As a result, his contract will expire at the end of the month.
Furthermore, the report stated how WWE have approached O’Reilly about re-signing. So, there is at least interest on WWE’s side.
No word if O’Reilly will negotiate with WWE or if he other plans. Two of his Undisputed Era stablemates, Adam Cole and Bobby Fish, landed in AEW.
Cole decided not to re-sign and left after losing to O’Reilly. His AEW run has seen him reunite with The Elite and feud with Jungle Boy.
Fish was released with WWE during one of their many massive releases. At times, he has been working with Cole in AEW.
O’Reilly, like many in NXT, is in a unique spot. WWE is showing interest, but that leaves one to wonder where O’Reilly lands.
With his size, he is likely not getting a major push win the main roster. He could stay in NXT, but WWE is looking for younger talent they can teach from scratch.
There are other options, with AEW, New Japan Pro Wrestling and Impact Wrestling. All three seem like strong candidates if O’Reilly wants out of WWE.
WWE Extends Tommaso Ciampa Contract
Tommaso Ciampa has been with NXT for many year. And, when you look around, he is one of the veterans of the brand.
Imagine, Ciampa being the Undertaker or John Cena of NXT. He is the guy that deserves respect for how he elevated the brand.
During his run, he turned into a major heel and won the NXT Championship. Although, a neck injury caused him to relinquish the title.
He missed months of action and now it looks like WWE will change his contract, according to Fightful Select. As seen in the past, WWE adds time to contracts when superstars are injured.
For example, Jeff Hardy missed so much time that his contract was extended.
Ciampa entered NXT and formed a tag tam with Johnny Gargano. Known as DIY, they were able to capture NXT Tag Team gold.

Then, the duo split and feuded heavily over the NXT Championship. The feud kept going for about two years, before they had one final match together.
Gargano won by turning heel in the process. Since then, WWE has not really referenced their feud.
With NXT changing, Ciampa’s time as World Champion could be over soon. Likely, he drops the title to a young talent that Vince McMahon sees a future star.
