KENTA Says A CM Punk Match

For a good chunk of time, fans have wanted to see KENTA vs. CM Punk. Both use the same finisher, which is one of the main reasons for seeing them compete.

With Punk now back on AEW TV, there seemed like a decent chance they would meet at Forbidden Door 2 later in the month. As of now, that contest has not been confirmed. And, KENTA says a CM Punk match will never happen.

He sent out a tweet with that message during the debut episode of AEW Collision. The opening segment saw Punk come to the ring and cut a promo. In fact, KENTA’s tweet came after Punk finished his promo.

Punk was holding a red bag during the promo, but he did not show what was inside. Many think it was Punk taking a dig at KENTA, who said he would only wrestle for a large sum of money.

In NXT, KENTA did little. He was injuried a few times and WWE never seemed interested in making him a star. Eventually, he departed and headed back to NJPW.

KENTA did work one match for AEW back in 2021. Since then, he remains a member of NJPW’s Bullet Club.

Punk returned to AEW at Saturday’s Collision, following an injury and suspension after the All Out brawl. Even nine months later, there are still questions on Punk’s relationship with Tony Khan and The Elite.

There is still time for them to wrestle at Forbidden Door 2. But, things need to move quick, especially if either promotion wants to hype the match.
