Ric Flair is recovering from a health scare that his family and even his doctors thought would kill him. Flair’s heart problems led to vital organs shutting down and a rush to the ICU. Flair can no longer walk on his own and is in physical therapy to gain back his strength. He is currently in an assisted living center where he is regaining his health slowly but surely.
That and more is revealed in an interview with the legend in People Magazine this week.
Flair’s family members were told he had only 20 percent odds of surviving, and he was placed in a medically induced coma while they – including daughter, pro wrestler Charlotte Flair – took to social media to asks fans for prayers.
Flair required multiple surgeries to survive.
Beyond his heart, there were issues with his intestines and kidneys. His entire body quit on him.
Doctors subsequently removed part of Flair’s bowel, and inserted a pacemaker.
Flair discusses how he used alcohol as a painkiller during his decades of wrestling.
“I’ve never taken a pain pill in my life,” he explains. “I’d just take a shower, flip my hair back and go to the best bar in town.”
Now, the father of four says he is dedicated to doing better.
“I’ll never drink again,” says Flair. “I never want to go through this again.”

The recovery will be long and hard. But you can do it. You’ve survived a plane crash and being struck by lightning.
There’s no doubt that Flair is in pain from years of hard living and hard wrestling. Hopefully, this was a wake-up call for him to get on the straight, clean path of living.
