WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER recently stated during an interview that he has real heat with Hall of Famer Bret Hart.
GUNTHER’s Legitimate Heat With WWE Legend Bret Hart
The IC Champion recently appeared on The Bump, along with fellow Imperium stablemate, Ludwig Kaiser. They chatted about a number of things, but near the end of the segment, the host asked the superstars to offer up their opinions on past Intercontinental titleholders.
Bret Hart’s name was brought up. The current IC Champ praised The Hitman for his in-ring talents and noted he was a major star in Austria and Germany when he was growing up.
Still, while the Ring General stayed in character, he did mention how often Bret talks about disliking things from a match he had with Sheamus. The leader of the Imperium faction notes that he doesn’t forget, and he won’t get anything “nice” from him after that.
He adds that it’s too bad that Hart isn’t in a state to jump into the ring, or else they could settle things there. He notes the match would have been “very interesting”.
NXT Will Have A New Home In 2024
It would have been, indeed! During this week’s Monday Night RAW, a fatal four-way match determined the next #1 contender for GUNTHER’s IC title, and it looks like the star’s next challenger will be none other than The Miz.
The match is set to take place on Saturday, November 25th during the 2023 Survivor Series premium live event (PLE). Should make for a solid bout between the two.
The Imperium leader started off with the company in 2019, debuting within NXT UK. In fact, during his run, he became the longest-reigning NXT UK Champion.
History repeated itself in the spring of 2022 when he entered the main roster on SmackDown and eventually scored the IC title. He’s currently the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion in the company’s history at 514+ days.
