There’s an NXT wrestler who is generating a lot of buzz and has become a favorite of Sasha Banks and Kassius Ohno. The craziest part is that he hasn’t even got into the ring yet.
Leo Gao is part of the first class of Chinese athletes to arrive at the WWE Performance Center. He’s from Inner Mongolia and is a traditional Mongolian-style wrestler by training.
He’s only been training to be a pro-wrestler since February and won’t wrestle on a WWE event for a while, but he’s already captured the hearts of the WWE Universe with his infectious and unique personality.

Gao probably won’t be on TV wrestling for a while. WWE is making long-term investments in China and he is part of that first step. But it’s clear that he already has a big step-up with American fans, at least. I’m looking forward to following his career!
