Declan McMahon, Shane’s son and Vince’s grandson recently had an interview where he talked about how it felt growing up in the McMahon family.
Declan McMahon Reveals An “Aha” Moment
While he walked that aisle in 2016 at WrestleMania 32 and made a brief appearance in the crowd during the recent Fastlane premium live event (PLE), the young man hasn’t been a prominent television figure on WWE, like Shane or his Aunt Stephanie was at his age. Still, this doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a story to tell when it comes to growing up as part of the major wrestling family.
The 19-year-old is a running back freshman at Indiana University and recently spoke with Developmentally Speaking. During the interview, he notes that growing up in the family was “awesome” because you not only get to see things through a fan’s perspective (when you are younger), but you also get very invested in it as you grow older and see the “business” side of things.
Asked when he realized how big his last name and the WWE were, he revealed that it was when he walked out with his dad and brothers during Shane’s WM 32 entrance. When the music hit and the 100,000 live crowd roared, he truly put the pieces together.
How’s His Dad, Shane?
Speaking of Shane, his son also offered an injury update on him. For those who recall, he made a huge in-ring return at this past WrestleMania, facing The Miz during an impromptu bout.
Unfortunately, he had a bad landing on a leapfrog move, causing his quadriceps to tear. Thankfully, Snoop Dogg, well-experienced with all things WWE, jumped in Shane’s place to ensure that the “show” went on.
According to Shane’s freshman son, his rehab is going “very, very” well. Shane has started working out again, as well as jogging and squatting.
