If you don’t watch his show, you might not have caught the teaser, but could Pat McAfee be returning to WWE commentary?
During a very recent show, the former WWE announcer and performer had Paul Heyman on as a guest.
Of course, The Wise Man was hyping Roman Reigns and the 2024 Royal Rumble.
McAfee, never one to not stir the pot, observed that SmackDown now had an opening on it’s announce team.
On the January 26th SmackDown, Michael Cole filled the vacancy.
On air, he declared that he was back “for one night only”.
That could imply that Cole and WWE have plans for a replacement by next week’s show.
Which leads us to the big question…
Could Pat McAfee Be Returning To WWE Commentary?
McAfee was unexpectedly great during his time with WWE.
He started with NXT and capped it on the main roster. The former NFL punter even got to live out his lifelong dream and become a bit of a WWE Superstar.
However, his national media presence was growing and growing. Eventually his show and football obligations (and big money) meant he was mostly away from WWE.
We did get some cameo appearances from him in 2023, but he has not been a regular announcer in a bit.
With Kevin Patrick now no longer a part of WWE, could McAfee come back?
And if so, would it be a limited engagement, or might Pat have worked out a way to be back for a bit of a longer run?
Either way, would it surprise anyone if the outspoken talent showed up in Tampa?
While he said on his show that weather was a challenge, Heyman did offer a private jet to get the man to Florida.
We can only hope, and we should have our answer soon enough.
