WWE Monday Night RAW took place in the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois last night. This also happens to be the hometown of CM Punk. According to reports, the former WWE and AEW Champion was backstage at the event.

CM Punk Backstage At RAW

As per PW Insider, CM Punk was backstage at this week’s RAW and met with CCO Triple H. According to the report, this is the first time the two talked since 2014 the wrestler “walked out” on the company.

Additionally, the current AEW talent met with other people, but was eventually asked to leave the arena. PW Insider states that Vince McMahon made the decision to do so, and former WWE employee exited the backstage without protest.

More On CM Punk Being Backstage At RAW

Fightful Select also reported on Punk being backstage at WWE RAW. They confirmed he spoke to HHH and other performers, including the Miz.

For some that may remember The Miz and Punk had “words” on Twitter at one point. It’s nice to think that the two may have cleared the air.

Fightful’s report also notes that Jim Kelly, Head of Security for WWE, asked him to leave. Again, they too report he left without incident.

With that said, some in the WWE believe this unexpected visit backstage was a publicity stunt for his AEW return. Meanwhile, sources note that some AEW wrestlers were completely in shock after hearing he was backstage at RAW.

Punk is still under contract at AEW but hasn’t been seen on TV or in storylines since his “All Out” brawl last September. Reports have surfaced stating that Punk is set to be showcased at AEW’s Saturday event.

This may become a possible roster split, as there still might be lingering drama between Kenny Omega, Punk, and The Young Bucks. Sounds like an AEW “brand split” might be the solution to all this conflict.

It’s important to note that CM Punk hasn’t worked with the WWE since his contributor role on the WWE Backstage show, which aired on Fox Sports from 2019-2021. It’ll be interesting to see what Punk does next.

Over to other news, The Dyad recently requested their WWE release. More on this story, below.

The Dyad Asks For WWE Release

Rip Fowler, also known as Zack Gibson, as well as James Drake, also known as Jagger Reid, hopped on Twitter to announce that they requested their WWE releases earlier this month on April 3rd. Both social media statement are quite similar.

Both informed their fans about their release requests being denied. Both note that the two will become free agents come this October 15th.

In the posts, which can be seen below, both thanks all their fans for their support. Drake notes he’ll never take this for “granted”.

Both seem pumped for what’s in store next. Drake ends the post stating that he’s “excited” to share their next chapter once they are free agents.

The Dyad Continue On NXT

Reports had surfaced in early April that the Dyad had requested their release from the WWE.  Formerly known as The Grizzled Young Veterans, the group still continued to be shown on NXT TV.

9In fact, they recently were part of an April 18th NXT episode. They faced The Creed Brothers and Gallus in a three-way bout for the NXT Tag Championships.

Unfortunately, they lost the bout. The duo began their WWE journey with NXT UK, in 2018.

During their time with that brand, they were the first tag team ever to hold the NXT UK Tag Titles. They entered the main NXT brand in 2020 and have been there ever since.

What lies ahead for The Dyad? Only time will tell.
