CM Punk pitched for himself to be in the upcoming Blood & Guts Match with The Elite and The Blackpool Combat Club, but AEW turned down his request.
CM Punk Pitched For Blood & Guts Match, AEW Denied Request
In less than 10 days, AEW will produce another installment of the Blood & Guts Match. In the past, the two ring, surrounded by a massive cage, has presented plenty of blood.
This year, The Blackpool Combat Club and The Elite will do battle. The Blackpool Combat Club features Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta and Konosuke Takeshita. Bryan Danielson will not be there because he fractured his arm at Forbidden Door 2. The Elite team consists of Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks and “Hangman” Adam Page.
Kota Ibushi is rumored to join The Elite, while The Blackpool Combat Club has invited Chris Jericho to be part of the match. As of now, there is no official confirmation on who will be the final member of each team.
Per Fightful Select, there is one wrestler who will not be part the contest and that is CM Punk. He reportedly pitched the idea of working the match, but ‘neither team would want him.’
Neither team wanting to work with him makes sense. It will be a year come September since the infamous All Out Brawl. Many suspensions were handed-out, but everyone did return.
Punk was the last to return because he was injured before the brawl. Since returning, he has been kept away from The Elite. Mostly, Punk will work Collision with The Elite on Dynamite. Both can, and have already, appeared on the other show but through taped segments or AEW making sure both sides are far away.
While off TV, Punk went over his mindset during his rant that led to the backstage brawl. He apparently tried to contact The Elite numerous times, but either he was turned-down by the wrestlers or lawyers from both sides.
So, does CM Punk deserve a spot in Blood & Guts, or is AEW making the right call?
