Fans were not too surprised when CM Punk was handed his AEW release. Although, he was apparently not upset with what happened.
CM Punk Not Upset Over AEW Release
When CM Punk quit WWE a decade ago, it felt like he was done with pro wrestling. He tried UFC, but his two outings were nowhere near par.
Tony Khan convinced Punk to join AEW about two years ago. The relationship was either very positive or very negative.
He did bring AEW lots of attention. At the same time, Punk did butt heads with talent.
First, he got into it with The Elite after a pay per view. Then, he got physical with Jack Perry as All In from England was just starting.
On two occasions, following backstage fights, Punk was suspended by AEW. After the second one, Khan fired him days later citing concerns for his safety.
Andrade El Idolo Leaving AEW For WWE?
According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, Punk was not upset over the AEW release.
“He was not that upset when he was fired,” said Meltzer. “I was told he was not looking to be fired, but he was not that upset about being fired.”
Even before his AEW exit, Punk was was spotted backstage at a WWE event. While not known, some speculate he was seeing if WWE had interest in him returning.
And, that is exactly what took place at conclusion of Survivor Series. It will go-down as one of the loudest pops ever.
Already, Punk has teased working with Kevin Owens, The Bloodline and more. Also, he made it clear he wants to main event WrestleMania.
With WrestleMania 40 not far away, we could see Punk against either Seth Rollins or Roman Reigns. He might even win the Royal Rumble along the way.
