CM Punk’s planned return to AEW airwaves for the yet-to-be-announced June debut of their new show “Collision” will reportedly lead to a very real but soft split of the AEW roster.
It has been eight months since the infamous fight at AEW’s “All Out” pay-per-view event between CM Punk and promotion vice presidents Kenny Omega, and the Young Bucks. However, the incident has hovered over the company ever since because there has been no definitive resolution to the situation.

While at one time late last year, there were rumblings the company could part ways with the WWE legend, all signs now point toward CM Punk making his return at a June 17 card in his native Chicago. Which will serve as the debut of AEW’s new Saturday show “Collision.” Yet, the multi-time world champion isn’t expected to jump right back into the roster like the September incident never happened.

With reports that little has been resolved between CM Punk and The Elite (Omega and the Young Bucks), rumblings for weeks have claimed Punk will lead a roster specific for “Collision” while The Elite would mostly remain on “Dynamite” in what would essentially be an AEW roster split.
In a recent installment of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, industry insider Dave Meltzer gave an update on the plans and explained how the split would actually be a soft one instead of a strict and defined roster for both shows.
“Punk will be the star of Collision most weeks, but he will be on Dynamite at times when needed. Those with unresolved issues with Punk would be on Collision the week he’s on Dynamite.”

Meltzer also noted that the split would not likely include the women’s division since there is a notable lack of depth for that side of the roster despite there being two women’s titles.
With the cancellations of AEW Dark and Dark: Elevation, the company’s Friday “Rampage” show is expected to replace the aforementioned content and feature the younger talent on the AEW roster.
