In case you haven’t heard, Chris Jericho is facing Kenny Omega in the Tokyo Dome at Wrestle Kingdom 12 on January 4th.
This is not a drill. This is reality. This match is actually happening.

I personally don’t know what to do with this news. Chris Jericho is my favorite of all time and Kenny Omega is the one wrestler I’d like to see more than anyone else in WWE. It kind of still doesn’t feel real, but it is. Wrestling in 2017, am I right?
How Did It Happen?
Jericho and Omega have been feuding online for weeks. It all started on Oct. 20, when Jericho responded to a fan who claimed that Omega was the best wrestler in the world by saying that he wasn’t even the best in Winnipeg.
Best in the world? @KennyOmegamanX isn’t even the best in Winnipeg… #overrated https://t.co/2uXmebv2QI

Omega, of course, fired back:
Well jeez, what can I say? Never meet your heroes, folks, lest they be a corporate stooge. https://t.co/oGU6R9uCfZ
— Kenny Omega (@KennyOmegamanX) October 21, 2017
From there they jawed back and forth about Omega’s match star ratings:
Nah,I’m just the guy having those 6 star classics you keep hearing about.Surely Y2J’s had plenty of those in the “BIG LEAGUES” ,right?
— Kenny Omega (@KennyOmegamanX) October 24, 2017
Yeah, be absolutely crazy to say that Anyone hitting 4.75 stars and up are among the world’s best…. ?
— Kenny Omega (@KennyOmegamanX) October 26, 2017
Twitter angles are fun,but it’s just a lot of talk with absolutely no pay off. You’re there, I’m here. No more free publicity. Case closed.

Their in-ring antics:
Could possibly be @KennyOmegamanX’s best ever in-ring performance… #7starkiss pic.twitter.com/lBZgmiN8rA

At least I could still work a half decent match in my costume….. ?pic.twitter.com/VDBUb5KOTr
— Kenny Omega (@KennyOmegamanX) November 3, 2017
And even their employers:
Hey @KennyOmegamanX– u know I was ur boss #Gedo’s tag partner? I make 1 phone call & ur little @njpw1972 push ENDS. pic.twitter.com/AjgRPYlqzV
— Chris Jericho (@IAmJericho) November 4, 2017
Hate to be fired and forced to go to the “majors”.You guys come off about as cool as Gedo’s haircut & red pajamas.Stay out of our business.
— Kenny Omega (@KennyOmegamanX) November 4, 2017
Believe me, I’ve got zero interest in ur “business” or @njpw1972! But I’ve got an idea where we can settle this… ? https://t.co/yU27djcYfG

As indicated in Jericho’s tweet, it had been speculated that the two were working toward a match on Jericho’s cruise – but clearly, a boat wasn’t big enough for this feud. After Omega successfully defended his IWGP United States Championship against Beretta at NJPW Power Struggle on Saturday, Omega cut a promo calling for his next challenger. And Jericho responded:

Again, somehow this is for real – and the implications are HUGE.
