Buddy Matthews took part in a brutal ladder match to open Collision on Saturday, but he was injured during the bout. So, will the AEW Champion miss any time?
Buddy Matthews Suffers Injury During AEW Ladder Match
When AEW introduced Collision, there were lots of questions. For now, people are still searching for answers about the new Saturday show.
We are seeing a pattern of the same names working Collision. This includes House of Black, Andrade El Idolo, CM Punk and Miro.
Yesterday, the opener featured Andrade taking on House of Black member Buddy Matthews in a ladder match. Andrade won by grabbing his mask, which was hanging above the ring.Â
The match did see Buddy Matthews suffer an injury. He popped his shoulder out and somehow the match continued.
On the outside, the medical team popped his shoulder back into place. A few seconds later and Matthews was already back in the match.
There has been no update about Matthews, but he should be okay. It not the type of injury to sideline someone for weeks or months, outside of a few exceptions.
We have to give Buddy Matthews credit for wanting to continue the match. He really only missed about 30 seconds of action and his heart allowed the vicious encounter to continue.
Whenever someone in AEW has an injury, fans are quick to rush and point blame about the number of botches the company has produced. Some feel AEW needs a performance center like WWE for those wrestlers still learning the trade. But, this was simply an injury that was nobodies fault.
If anything, Collision is allowing more AEW talent to appear on TV. Before the new show, some of the names listed earlier have not competed for months.
So, should AEW have stopped the match when Buddy Matthews went down with an injury or was it the right call to keep the action going?
