Brock Lesnar was supposed to be in the Royal Rumble, but WWE replaced him with Bron Breakker due to accusations made earlier in the week.
Bron Breakker Replaced Brock Lesnar In Royal Rumble Match
While WWE never confirmed, Brock Lesnar was scheduled for the Royal Rumble. He was intended to be a surprise entrant.
Days earlier, WWE was thrown for a loop. Vince McMahon was accused of sex trafficking and other abuses.
Once the news broke about Vince, he was gone from WWE and TKO rather quickly. He resigned from the board and this time he is not coming back.
Besides Vince, John Laurinaitis was mentioned in the civil suit and an unnamed former UFC Champion as well. By process of elimination, it could only be Brock Lesnar.
For now, the company has weathered the storm. Although, there is still a decent chance anyone close to Vince, like Triple H and Nick Khan, could be gone.
Triple H briefly spoke upon the matter after the Royal Rumble. Basically, Triple H said he learned in realtime like everyone else.
His response did not go over well with fans. He was in a bad spot, with little room to escape.
WWE Will Continue Without Vince McMahon And Maybe Others
On the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reveled Bron Breakker took Lesnar’s spot.
“Bron Breakker, because of that, and the fact that the match was pretty much scripted out already, Bron Breakker essentially fulfilled the Brock Lesnar role,” said Meltzer. “He came in when Brock Lesnar was going to come in.”
“He threw out the guys Brock Lesnar was going to throw out. Also, he got thrown out exactly how Brock Lesnar was going to get thrown out.”
The elimination came at the hands of, all people, Dominik Mysterio. Prior, he secured four eliminations and spent five minutes in the Royal Rumble Match.
For now, Bron remains a part of NXT. Although, his time there has been overdrawn and he should be on the main roster after WrestleMania 40.
Face or heel, he has delivered. We might be looking at the future of WWE.
As for Lesnar, he might not have a future with WWE for much longer.
