The road to WrestleMania is right around the corner, and this is definitely the time of year when WWE tends to see a lot of returns, call-ups, and debuts. However, there’s one HUGE Hollywood name who’s apparently considering a comeback – and it’s not The Rock. On the latest episode of Jim Ross’s podcast, The Ross Report, former WWE Champion Batista revealed that he’s talked to Vince McMahon about returning to WWE – and he doesn’t want it to just be a one-off appearance:
The short answer to that is ‘yes, I would love to go back.’ But the reason I have not gone back is because I don’t want to do a one-off. I want to go and I want to wrestle, man. I want to do some house shows and I want to be a part of the program.
The one-off thing, the cheap pop thing, it doesn’t do anything for me. So now it’s a matter of scheduling if I could go back, if I happen to get injured is it going to affect something else?
Do you want Batista to return?
I have to say, hearing this has certainly upped my respect for Batista. It’s good to know that he wouldn’t just want to show up, get a big payday, and leave. Then again, he’s a pretty big star in Hollywood now (his acting skills are highlighted in the video below), so scheduling a longer run could be a problem if he has a lot of films lined up.
If Batista does return, however, hopefully, he’ll be better received than he was during his last run with WWE. Remember when he returned and won the 2014 Royal Rumble instead of Daniel Bryan? He was nearly booed out of the arena.
Whatever the case, though, it doesn’t seem like a Batista return will happen anytime soon. But if and when it does, I’d be happy to see him back.
