There’s a rumor going around about Saturday that seems hard to believe: Backlash expected big squash.
I really am not making that up, but according to Fightful, there were some whispering about a Backlash expected big squash.

And what match was the expected big squash?
Believe it or not, there were some expecting that Brock Lesnar would actually squash Cody Rhodes.
Per Fightful, after hearing from sources “in the know”, there weren’t ever any plans to have Lesnar squash Cody Rhodes.
What there were plans for, however, was blood. Brock Lesnar bled-heavily-during the match.
The juice flowed after Lesnar hit his forehead into an exposed top turnbuckle.
In wrestling nowadays, people often wonder if it was a blade job (some do those better than others), or if it was blood achieved the hard way.
We saw Damien Priest bleed the hard way during his incredible match with Bad Bunny, and it seems Lesnar’s came the same way.
One other bit of news from Fightful is that there was serious discussion for Bad Bunny and Damien Priest to serve as the actual main event.
Yes, the match was billed as a co-main event, but it did not garner the headlining main event slot.
Hindsight being 20/20, Bunny and Priest would have absolutely been the correct main event call.
Neither match was bad, but that San Juan street fight delivered in so many ways that it was just a tough spectacle to follow.
And, if anyone actually wanted to have Lesnar squash Cody Rhodes, then WWE absolutely should have not left that as the main event.
There were even some rumblings that we’d see a stretcher or ambulance involved, implying someone sustaining a beating “needing medical attention”.
I suppose if that had been the plan for a possible Lesnar squash, it might have been such a crazy thing to see that the main event would be warranted.
However, as things went, the match was fine.
