Asuka Broke Her Collarbone During NXT Takeover Match – Will be Out For Six Weeks

This ain’t ballet. Wrestlers get hurt. It is part of the deal. These are real athletes doing really dangerous stuff. Another top star has gone down with a bad injury. Thankfully it isn’t career threatening and won’t require much time off. However, it is the first sign of weakness from the most dominate wrestler in all of WWE right now. NXT Women’s Champion Asuka broke her collarbone during her match against Ember Moon at NXT Takeover Brooklyn III.

Due to the injury, The Empress of Tomorrow is not medically cleared to compete, and no official timetable has been given for her return. The typical recovery time for a broken collarbone is 6-8 weeks, according to ringside physician Dr. Jeffrey Westerfield, who tended to Asuka in Brooklyn.

“During the match, she landed awkwardly from a throw from Ember Moon and was able to complete the match, but had notable pain and discomfort,” Dr. Westerfield said. “We performed an initial ultrasound backstage that was highly suspicious of a break that was later confirmed by an X-ray.”

Asuka’s tough so she’ll be back. But the real question is, who challenges The Empress of Tomorrow? She has dispatched with virtually every female on and off on the NXT roster. My speculation is that whoever wins the Mae Young Classic will challenge Asuka for the title. Which means we might get a rematch between Asuka and one of her rivals from Japan, Kairi Sane.
