It’s been months since AEW fans last saw company great Bryan Danielson. However, on Wednesday at the promotion’s Grand Slam Mexico event, the former AEW champ made a surprise appearance after the show went off the air. The belief was that he may have to retire due to a serious neck injury. But that may no longer be the case.
While he has not gotten surgery and isn’t close to a return, Fightful Select reported Friday that there has been an expectation in the company that he would eventually return to competition. And that the groundwork has already been set for him when he is ready to step back into the ring. With that in mind, here are four matches we need to see Bryan Danielson in when he makes his latest wrestling comeback.
Bryan Danielson vs. Adam Cole

While Danielson and Adam Cole have been two of the biggest names in the industry over the last 15 years, and have been in AEW at the same time, they have yet to face off one-on-one in All Elite Wrestling. They are the model for a smaller wrestler having big success. Plus, they are two of the best mat technicians on the roster. A dream match is long overdue.
Bryan Danielson vs. Darby Allin

Danielson and Darby Allin are two of AEW’s greatest heroes. So that is why it shouldn’t be too surprising that they have never faced off one-on-one. While they have mixed it up in different ways during their time in the company, a straight head-to-head clash is a bout wrestling fans have wanted to see for years.
Bryan Danielson vs. Ricochet

Ricochet is one of the top examples of a WWE alum who has been far better in AEW. Danielson became a legend in the industry for his ability to have good matches with performers of every single style. For a company that wants five-star classics, Danielson vs. Richochet is as much of a guarantee for a classic as you can get.
Bryan Danielson vs. Kyle Fletcher rematch

This is the only rematch on our list. However, the Kyle Fletcher that Danielson faced in AEW is night and day different from the top heel he is today. The Aussie is a great new-age baddie. So a rivalry with the ultimate hero Danielson, back from a serious injury, is the perfect story to tell in and out of the ring.
