More Backstate Details Emerge on MVP and Hurt Syndicate’s Bad AEW Reputations

MVP and his Hurt Syndicate faction have been top stars for AEW since reforming the group they once had in WWE. However, new rumors this week suggest the trio is not well-liked among some of their co-workers.

This week, rumors came to light about MVP and Hurt Syndicate having “backstage heat.” Following the report, Fightful Select offered up some new details on whether there is any truth to the rumblings from the AEW locker room.

The outlet claimed MVP does not like “Speedball” Mike Bailey. This allegedly led to his turning down the pitch of Bailey and his JetSpeed cohort, Kevin Knight, dethroning Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin for the AEW tag titles at All In Texas. Moreover, Fightful could not find a specific reason for the reported dislike of Bailey.

Furthermore, a particular internal AEW source claimed that The Hurt Syndicate also turned down the idea of FTR defeating them for the titles at All In. Instead, the faction had a vision of a younger team, like Private Party or Gates of Agony, defeating them for the championships.

MVP and his cohorts were reportedly willing to drop the titles to Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland. However, an injury to the English star scrapped those plans.

According to Fightful, MJF’s association with the team seemingly ending was not related to issues he may have had with the trio. Lastly, the outlet reported that morale in the AEW locker room has been at an all-time high in 2025, and wrestlers have reported no issues. So, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the Jacksonville-based promotion this year.
