Major Update On Chris Jericho’s AEW Contract Status Emerges: Is A WWE Return At WrestleMania 41 Possible?

The Bad News Kevin Owens Fans MUST Accept

A new report suggests former AEW champion Chris Jericho could be a free agent much sooner than wrestling fans may realize.

Chris Jericho is one of the most important performers in the short history of AEW. Back in 2019, they were just an upstart company led by some of NJPW’s most popular performers at the time. However, when the WWE legend signed on it gave the brand a prestige it did not have.

His run as AEW champion helped establish the belt and gave the company notable feuds to build their TV content around. Jericho has also been very helpful in helping elevate rising talents like Orange Cassidy and Sammy Guevara to never-before-seen levels.

However, it is possible his tenure in the company could end in the coming months.

On Monday night, Wrestle Purists reported that “Chris Jericho’s current AEW deal is up in 2025. No injury time or anything is set to be added as it stands.”

Jericho has played a role as a midcard talent and has not been a featured part of the AEW title picture for a few years. So could a return to WWE be possible next year?

While the man once known as “Y2J” would like to make it seem like the end of his wrestling career is not close, he is 53 years old. His bump card is quite filled and it too will expire. Jericho is always looking to grab onto whatever is a hot product at the moment. He did that in 2018 when he signed with NJPW and then in 2019 when he joined up with AEW.

Making the jump to WWE when it is red-hot for one last run makes a lot of sense. However, the big question is how much interest would WWE have in Chris Jericho? And are they willing to pay him the type of money he wants? If his contract expires in the spring, a return at WrestleMania 41 would be a heck of a way to make a comeback to the company that made him a wrestling legend.
