It seems that Will Ospreay wants AEW fans to have as pleasurable an experience as possible from his matches.
Ospreay was already seen as one of the greatest wrestlers on the planet before he joined AEW in 2023. He had a legendary run in New Japan Pro Wrestling that saw him win several titles, including the IWGP belt. And he has taken that impressive resume and expanded upon it in North America for All Elite Wrestling.
Despite one of the deepest rosters in the industry, Ospreay has maintained his place among the best wrestlers in the business, and many believe he is the top star in the company. Yet, that doesn’t mean he is completely satisfied with the finished product. He believes he can always get better. And he has gotten the help of an ECW great to improve his work for US television.
Jerry Lynn’s a major influence on Will Ospreay’s AEW run?

“I never get sick of hearing from different wrestlers, their opinions,” he said in an interview with Q101 recently [h/t Wrestling Inc]. “For example, this year I’ve been working hand in hand with [backstage agent] Jerry Lynn, and he’s really been helping me dissect little pieces of my match. especially when I’m on TV shows.”
“I enjoyed [watching] the underground style and the technique and the intimacy between wrestler and audience,” he added. “I always enjoyed that type of connection, so having Jerry Lynn teaching me little nuggets of information has really been helping out my connection with the audience.”
Will Ospreay has a specific place he wants to get his wrestling to, and he offered up an interesting description for the reaction he wants from his AEW matches.
“Learning how to ride waves, and getting them up to a point where they climax,” he said. “I know that’s the weirdest word to use in wrestling. But Jerry’s teaching me the fine art of making them climax at the right point.”
