He’s been dealing with some personal challenges of late, but we now have an update on Jim Ross’ health as well as plans to return to AEW.
More: Could Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler Reunite?
He has had a long and illustrious career, making a name for himself in WCW and WWE. There is a reason he is in the WWE Hall of Fame. But, in recent years, the man who now calls matches for AEW has been dealing with a number of ailments. Most recently, the proud Oklahoma native fell ill and landed himself in the hospital. He took to his own podcast to let fans know how things were going and what comes next.
Will Jim Ross Return To AEW?
As Ross himself put it, he apparently caught a nasty virus which took him a few days to shake. But, it was bad enough that he was in the hospital to do so. The good news is he is on the mend and trending in the right direction. So much so that good ol’ JR mentioned that, as things currently stand, he expects to be at AEW’s next PPV, which would be Forbidden Door. He was complimentary toward his boss in AEW as well, noting that Tony Khan has been very supportive during Ross’s health issues.
One item that maybe got lost in the shuffle of all things? At the beginning of his recap, Jim Ross mentioned his reason for going home to Oklahoma in the first place. As he put it, he flew home “thinking it was time to come home and evaluate things”. We all know that Ross is no spring chicken. He’s traveled the world, called so many memorable matches and has had his share of challenges. We already know that he’s working a lighter schedule now. Honestly, nothing wrong with bringing him in for major events only-I think if anything, it actually adds something to his mystique. But, if he was going home to reflect, you have to wonder if he might be thinking of hanging up the cowboy hat entirely?
