Shane McMahon And Tony Khan Meeting Photo Staged? Top Wrestling Reporter Says WWE Legend Is AEW-Bound

A notable pro wrestling reporter believes the photo from Shane McMahon’s meeting this week with AEW boss Tony Khan was staged. And he is definitely joining the No. 2 company in the industry.

Over the last few weeks, there has been surprising speculation about a potential working relationship between AEW and Shane McMahon — the son of WWE founder Vince McMahon. It first started with rumors he had reached out to talent inside the company to ask some questions. Then it intensified following an impromptu meeting with AEW TBS champion Mercedes Mone in a New York airport.

When given the chance to shut down the speculation, the AEW boss made comments that surprisingly left the door wide open to a potential relationship with McMahon. Then on Wednesday an image of Shane McMahon and Tony Khan in a meeting this week went viral on social media.

However, Wrestling Observer reporter Bryan Alvarez does not believe the photo leaking online was the work of a savvy photographer who snapped a shot at a secret meeting. Instead, he thinks the leak was purposeful and Vince McMahon’s son is headed to AEW.

Bryan Alvarez questions leaked image from Shane McMahon and Tony Khan meeting

“From what I know, stories I’ve heard, there is no chance somebody walked in on this meeting, took a photograph, Tony went ‘Ah’ and then they fled, and they put it out on the internet,” Alvarez said. “No chance. Zero. Zilch. Not a chance in the world. So he wants it out there. Why? Well, I don’t know what’s going on.

“I don’t have any inside information on this one, but I don’t know, man. I think Shane’s coming in. Why would you leak this? Why would you allow this to go out on the Internet if you did not intend to bring this man in? Anyway, we’ll see.”

Alvarez’s opinion makes a lot of sense. And the photo leaking online simultaneously with reports of the meeting seems to be coincidental. It will be interesting to see how this story continues to play out.
