Sting and Darby Allin won the AEW Tag Team Championships in February and they were vacated after “The Icon’s” retirement. Therefore, Tony Khan announced a tournament to crown new champions. The tournament has been underway and will conclude at Dynasty on April 21. During Collision, Ricky Starks and Big Bill were looking to advance with a win over Top Flight. While Starks appeared injured during the match, he did provided a positive update. On social media, Starks wrote, “I’m all good, everything checked out fine. Was being precautious.”
For those watching in attendance and at home, something clearly went wrong. The ending saw a double-team DDT on Starks be enough for the three. It looked like the referee stopped counting the first time, but on the second attempt, he hit the canvas three times. Right away, the medical team hit the ring as Big Bill was only featured on the screen. Even the announce team seemed shocked at Top Flight winning. Also, AEW already had the music set to play for Starks and Bill.
Could Be The End Of The Former Tag Team Champions
Thankfully, by the sounds of it, Starks avoided any major damage. After such a moment, being cleared by the doctors is a must. The future of the duo could be in doubt as they were tossed together by AEW with little story. Basically, do not be surprised if AEW goes a different direction with both wrestlers upon returning to TV. For Starks, his time in AEW could be ending shortly as well.
