When AEW was founded, it created more opportunities for wrestlers. Otherwise, TNA, NWA and MLW would be the other major wrestling promotions in the United States. Although, only WWE and AEW have a decent TV deal and the money to make moves.
We have seen several wrestlers jump from WWE to AEW, with some even returning like Andrade. Paul Wight (The Big Show to WWE fans) was one of the biggest names to exit WWE for AEW. Basically, Wight thought he had more to offer and Vince McMahon did not agree. Now, that mindset could have changed with Triple H running things.
Paul Wight Has Been Collecting Paychecks From Tony Khan For Years
While talking to Fightful Select, Wight was honest about Tony Kahn not having him wrestle much and wanting to get back inside the ring. “God, I hope so,” said Wight. “Because Tony Khan paid me a s— ton of money to get in the ring, and so far, I haven’t done s—.” Depending on the person, some would be happy to sit at home and collect massive paychecks.
Despite several years with AEW, Wight has only wrestled a few times. His last official AEW match was almost a year ago and saw Wight not wrestle the entire match. He did work Chris Jericho’s cruise last month, but that is not part of AEW. At 52 years old, Wight knows time is not on his side. Although, he seems to be in great shape after undergoing several overdue operations. So, should Tony Khan book Paul Wight on TV?
