AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone may be hoping her company signs three specific veterans who were among the boatload of WWE roster cuts this past week.
Many wrestling fans got a surprise on Friday when news emerged that WWE had undergone notable slashing of its roster. As the evening played out, big names and former champions like Braun Strowman, Shayna Baszler, and the team of Kayden Carter and Katana Chance were among the wrestlers who were let go.
There has been a great deal of speculation about what could be next for the more than a dozen performers released. Well, current AEW star Mercedes Mone seems to want her current employer to add three specific talents.
Over the weekend, Mone posted what looks to be a picture from a previous Survivor Series card. Featuring her, Shotzi, Baszler, Dakota Kai’s bust posted over what looks to be Natalya Neidhart, and Toni Storm. The image is captioned with a money face emoji. Mone and Storm hold both the women’s singles titles in AEW. The other three were among the WWE roster cuts this past week.
The AEW women’s roster has come a long way over the last few years. However, it’s still far from being anywhere close to as deep as the roster of female talent in WWE. But the additions of Kai, Baszler, and Shotzi would certainly go a long way to improving things.
The three former WWE talents are long-time veterans of the industry. And they have name value after both Baszler and Kai have held gold in their former home. It remains to be seen if AEW will look to add them after their 90-day non-compete clauses expire. But the company has saved a lot of money with a round of roster cuts earlier this year.
