In a new edition of his podcast, WWE Hall-of-Famer Eric Bischoff had a lot to say about Mercedes Mone’s promo skills. And none of it was good.
Earlier this year, Mone, FKA Sasha Banks in WWE, was one of three major free agent signings by AEW. The women’s division legend was expected to bolster the company’s mainstream appeal and take the division to new heights.

Unfortunately, it seems like Mone’s expensive addition hasn’t brought notable positive results for the company in terms of ticket sales and television ratings for AEW Dynamite. Some around the industry have questioned how the promotion has used the TBS Champion and WCW legend Eric Bischoff is the latest to jump on that bandwagon.
In a new video on his “83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff” YouTube page, the WWE Hall-of-Famer offered up some rough criticisms of Mercedes Mone’s promo skills and how that weakness was long protected by her previous employer.
Eric Bischoff claims Mercedes Mone has diminished her value in AEW
“WWE knew how to utilize Sasha Banks’ strengths, but more importantly WWE understood her limitations and produced around her limitations. What does [AEW President] Tony Khan do? He gives her the ball. He gives her creative control.”
“For some reason, Mercedes Mone, previously Sasha Banks, feels like she’s a great promo. One of the reasons I never heard her do promos in WWE is WWE knew better. She cannot carry a promo. She should never be allowed to open her mouth. Every time she opens her mouth, her stock goes down. It’s to the point now where I don’t know if she’s worth anything.”

Mone’s promo abilities have been used heavily in AEW, and it has been a consistent point of criticism from fans as well. This only adds to that narrative. However, Khan is unlikely to change course on how he has allowed Mone to present herself on AEW content.
