A report reveals AEW star MJF might be taking a longer hiatus than expected as he’s contemplating shoulder surgery.
AEW Star MJF May Undergo Shoulder Surgery
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio reveals that MJF is debating on whether or not to undergo shoulder surgery or simply do rehab for the injury. The report does not offer insight into what option the AEW star is leaning toward.
At the Worlds End event, the superstar dropped his AEW World title to Samoa Joe. After the main event, it was revealed that Adam Cole was the masked Devil.
MJF’s profile was deleted from the AEW talent website on Sunday, December 31st. It’s been widely noted that he planned to take some time off from the company to deal with injuries, after Worlds End.
MJF has also noted publicly that his AEW contract expired as of January 1st, 2024. Still, there is belief that he’s already re-signed a long-term deal with All Elite Wrestling.

AEW Star MJF’s Wrestling History
There’s been speculation on whether or not MJF would jump ship from AEW and go to the WWE. As he’s currently recovering from injuries, it’s hard to say what will end up happening.
He was trained by Pat Buck and Brian Myers, making his in-ring debut in their Create A Pro Wrestling Academy. He worked for Combat Zone Wrestling and Major League Wrestling over the years, until he became All Elite in 2019.
While MJF never officially wrestled for WWE in April 2015 the company uploaded his WWE Tough Enough entry to their YouTube channel. He also was a security guard for Samoa Joe’s entrance at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II in 2016.
Whether for Triple H or Tony Khan, there are big hopes for the future of MJF.
