Jon Jones is the greatest MMA fighter of all time. And that dominance extends to the training room. However, long-time teammate Carlos Condit recently revealed a story of the only person to ever knock the UFC legend down during sparring.
Hate him or love him, it is very hard to debate Jon Jones is not the best fighter to ever step inside an MMA cage. During a 17-year stint in the top cage fighting promotion of all time, he has fought and beat a who’s-who list of MMA greats.

Among his 22 wins inside the Octagon, he has victories over 11 men who have won UFC gold or world titles in other major organizations. And not only did he beat those men, he viciously finished many of them. There is no doubt that his dominance inside the Octagon extended to the training room at Jackson/Winklejohn MMA. Where he trained for much of his career.
However, during a recent interview on the Jaxxon podcast, long-time Jon Jones teammate Carlos Condit retold the story of the one fighter who actually got the best of him and “Bones” in the same training session.
- Jon Jones record: 28-1 (11 knockouts, 7 submissions)
Who was the mystery fighter that got the best of Jon Jones in sparring?
“The same guy [who got the best of Jones] f***ed me up the round before,” Condit began by saying. “I think it was a Tuesday morning at 9 AM sparring. We are in there tipping and tapping. I don’t know if you guys have ever heard of Adlan Amagov. He’s Chechen and he fought in the UFC a couple of times. In his last fight, they carried the dude out on a stretcher.
“He finished a number of guys [in training], he was a spinning-back kick guy. He f***ed me up. And then a round or two later he hit Jon with that spinning back kick and he dropped him.”
The Strikeforce veteran went 2-0 in the UFC before disappearing for the next three years. He popped back up in the sport in 2016 for the Russian company S-70. However, that would be his final recorded bout in the sport. One can only imagine how good he might have been if he stayed consistent with his fighting career.
However, being the one guy to actually beat up Jon Jones in sparring is not a bad career consolation prize.
