Now with two major shows each week to produce for TV, did AEW stop plans for dividing their roster into separate brands?
Did AEW Stop Plans For Dividing Their Roster?
After the fiasco at last year’s All Out, AEW did some thinking. The problems within The Elite and CM Punk still seem there, so the company needed to make a change.
There were talks of AEW splitting the roster. This would allow both disputing parties to still work for the company, while seeing little of each other.
As of now, there is no official AEW roster split. Although, Fightful Select reports why did AEW stop plans for dividing their roster after so much speculation about the major moment from happening.
They noted, a month ago, the idea was to divide the roster between Dynamite and Collision. The term “transfer portal” was trademarked by AEW and supposed to involve the roster being split.
There wold be exceptions, such as champions appearing on both brands. That is one major difference on how WWE handles having RAW and SmackDown. Although, that has caused many to say the titles have been watered-down.
Internally, the decision was met with mixed reactions. Some talent were upset because they would miss signings and independent bookings by having to work a Saturday night. Many signed with AEW because some are allowed to pursue opportunities outside of the company.
At the same time, others were okay with the move to avoid backstage drama. Most of the drama involves The Elite and Punk, but there have been several instances of wrestlers not getting along.
For now, there is no official brand split. Still, AEW seems content, for now, to keep The Elite and Punk away from each other whenever possible.
So, did AEW stop plans for dividing their roster or will the big change still happen?
