Yves Edwards Believes Cris “Cyborg” Should Fight in The PFL

As it stands right now, it looks like Cris “Cyborg’s” next fight will not be under the UFC banner. So, where should the decorated fighter compete next? Well, recently Yves Edwards explained why he thinks the former UFC champ should sign with the Professional Fighters League.

If you’re a regular reader of MMA news, you know that recently Dana White reported the UFC will not be resigning “Cyborg”. White’s announcement came not long after “Cyborg” accused the UFC President of bullying her.

Well, since “Cyborg” has worked with Bellator President Scott Coker before, during her run with Strikeforce, many believe the Brazilian star will move to that promotion. But, during a recent chat with MMA Junkie, Edwards had this to say about “Cyborg’s” next move:

“Hey, you want to make a million dollars?” Edwards said. “That’s pretty much all you have to say to Cris Cyborg.”

“…Cris has so much experience. She would definitely come in and be the favorite, even over Kayla Harrison. So Cris, if you want to make a million dollars, and we’re doing the women’s lightweight division again next year, she should definitely think about it. But that’s what my offer would be for her: ‘Would you like to make a million dollars?…”

“I would love to see Cris Cyborg fight inside the PFL,” Edwards said. “She’s been one of the biggest names in mixed martial arts for a really long time. We talk about the greatest women’s mixed martial artists, and her name is always in the conversation. Gina Carano, she had that fight. Everybody talked about her fight with Ronda when Ronda was on her climb. Cris Cyborg was the bar. She was the one everyone was gunning for.”

It’s an interesting idea, and it could deliver “Cyborg” a big payday if she were able to win a PFL tourney. But, the question is, does “Cyborg” want to compete in a tourney format? She’s also talked about competing in boxing: so, she could be looking for a deal that will allow her to compete in both MMA and boxing.
