Urijah Faber has made it no secret that he’s thinking about an Octagon return, and recently he confirmed to Dan Hardy that he’s officially, ending his retirement.
The former WEC champ and Sacramento star has repeatedly said in recent months that he’s thinking about making a comeback. Well, in advance of his grappling match with Nicky Ryan, Faber spoke with the aforementioned Hardy. While doing so, the now 40-year-old fighter said this (quote via The Mac Life):
“Looking at today’s landscape, I just know that I can compete easily,” Faber said. “I’ve stayed in great shape. It sounds like fun and the reason I stopped is because I wanted to. The reason I’m coming back is I have decided I want to … I just accepted a fight yesterday, I don’t know if that’s supposed to be put out yet.”
Faber reportedly didn’t offer any details as to who he’s fighting or when. But it looks like Dave Meltzer’s reporting that Faber will face Ricky Simon at the UFC’s July 13th card in Sacramento.
since the UFC is holding an event in Sacramento on July 13th, chances are he’ll be competing on that card.
The Team Alpha Male founder initially retired back in 2016 after defeating Brad Pickett by decision. Faber lost his grappling match to Ryan at Polaris 10 by decision.
