UFC washout and former Contender Series contract winner Mateus Mendonca revealed this week he suffered an injury every man on Earth fears.
Mateus Mendonca had an impressive start to his mixed martial arts career. The Brazilian competed nine times on the regional circuit and racked up an unbeaten record with six finishes. Unsurprisingly it earned him a shot on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2022. And he made the most of the opportunity by scoring a first-round knockout.

It earned him an opportunity in the UFC, but unfortunately, it did not go so well and he was cut from the company earlier this year after three straight losses. Since then he has been working to make his way back to the big time. However, that return to one of the major MMA promotions hit a major hurdle this past week.

UFC veteran Mateus Mendonca fractures penis in training
“I was training and [a teammate] landed his knee on my penis. And I felt an absurd pain and went to the bathroom,” Mendonca told MMA Fighting. “I was in Sao Paulo the other day, and my thing looked weird, it looked different, it has a lump. My girl told me to go to the hospital and they did an ultrasound exam, and told me to go to a different hospital right away for an emergency surgery.”
“The doctor told me to avoid training and teaching for two months,” he added. “I have to stay at home and do nothing, can’t teach and train, so I’m raffling that to have some money. I have a little daughter, and I brought my family with me to Sao Paulo to start training.”
The raffle to help the former UFC fighter can be found on his Instagram account.
