Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone has officially taken the first step towards making a return to the UFC in 2025. Cerrone announced on the Pacman Jones Show that he has placed himself in the testing pool.
With that, Cerrone is now on his way to fighting again. The legend and UFC Hall of Famer retired from the sport in 2022. He plans to compete at 185 pounds after spending the majority of his career around lightweight.

“I just re-entered the testing pool,” Cerrone said. “I have to be six months clean. Coming back for two more fights, just two more. I want 50 fights in the UFC. I promised my wife (that would be it.”
According to the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, athletes must undergo testing for 180 days before returning after retiring. Cerrone has admitted in previous interviews to taking steroids to help overcome the injuries suffered from his career.
Cerrone’s last fight came at UFC 276 when he lost to Jim Miller via submission. He also fell in 2021 to Alex Morono via TKO after a no-contest with Niko Price in 2020.
Who is the betting favorite for Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone to face?
According to BetOnline.ag, the odds-on favorite to meet Cerrone in his return is Clay Guida. The pair have two of the more storied UFC careers between them.
With Guida coming in at 7/1 odds, three behind him all have 9/1 odds in Bobby “King” Green, Court McGee and Michael Johnson. Others on the list include Alex Reyes, Austin Hubbard, Kurt Holobaugh and Tim Means.
Cerrone last won a fight in 2019 when he topped Al Iaquinta.
