For Aljamain Sterling, UFC 310 will likely be a night he would rather soon forget. Competing on the prelims, the former champion was defeated by Movsar Evloev.

Despite the setback, though, Sterling still plans to continue with his pursuit to get back to the top. The 35-year-old has now lost two of his last three after stringing together a nine-fight win streak.

“Tough fight,” Sterling posted on X after the bout. “I thought I might’ve edged it out against a tough opponent, but we came up short. Thank you all for the love and support. I hope the performance was a fun one for you all to watch.

“Movsar is a beast, I showed where I belong int his division. For now, we decompress and heal up, then get ready to climb the ladder again. The dream doesn’t stop unless you give up. I’ll be back.”

While many thought Sterling one as the fighter himself did, it was Evloev who dominated the stats. He had 136 total strikes landed to just 45 by Sterling while also hitting on four takedowns.

Sterling finished with two more successful takedowns but threw just 67 total strikes on the night. Neither fighter did much in terms of significant strikes, landing a combined 20.

Evloev, a 30-year-old from Russia, improved his career record to 19-0. Each of his last nine fights have come inside the UFC’s Octagon.
