Tom Aspinall Wants To Train With Former UFC And WWE Champion Brock Lesnar? Sort Of

A recent interview offered up a surprising answer from Tom Aspinall about the possibility of training with Brock Lensar.

Over the last few years, Englishman Tom Aspinall has become one of the faces of the UFC heavyweight division. He has eight wins in nine fights and all of them finishes. The lone “defeat” of his UFC tenure came in 2022 when he tore his ACL 15 seconds into his bout with Curtis Blaydes.

The dominant big man hit a new career high point over the last 13 months as he became the company’s interim heavyweight king and defended the belt in July. Now, he awaits a potential super-fight with lineal heavyweight champ Jon Jones in 2025.

As one of the best heavyweights in the world, he is often asked his opinion about some of the greats in the division’s past and present. And he received an unusual one for a recent video post on his YouTube channel.

  • Tom Aspinall record: 15-3 (11 knockouts, 4 submissions)

Tom Aspinall would rather train with Brock Lesnar than Cain Velasquez?

In a YouTube short, Tom Aspinall played a game of “Fight, Train, Drink.” The premise is he gets a trio of fighter names and has to decide which one he would rather drink with, fight, or train with. To kick off the video the three names he was first given are former opponent Alexander Volkov, Brock Lesnar, and Cain Velasquez.

Surprisingly, Volkov was the choice to drink with, since he fought him previously and scored a decisive first-round victory. When it came to which UFC legend he would rather train with, the answer may surprise.

  • Brock Lesnar record: 5-3 (3 knockouts, 1 submission)

“Train with Lesnar because my escapes would be unbelievable because he’s so strong on top. Fight Cain Velasquez because he’s a legend,” Aspinall admitted.

Now, it certainly doesn’t mean a training session with the former UFC heavyweight champ will happen. It seems unlikely Lesner will be traveling to England and Aspinall to Canada. However, this should certainly make the rounds in MMA circles and maybe it happens. The Englishman’s point is valid. And improve his escapes from the bottom against a legend like Lesnar could help in an eventual fight against Jones.
