At the moment, Miocic is scheduled to challenge Jones for the title later this year. The bout has already been delayed once due to an injury suffered by “Bones” late in 2023.
“These are just rumors at this point,” Aspinall said (thanks to Bloody Elbow for the quotes). “There’s a lot of talk but there’s nothing announced yet. These are all rumors.
“I’m hearing rumors that Stipe is potentially injured. This is stuff that I’m hearing from inner circle. He’s 42 years old; the guy is gone be injury prone.”
Aspinall has been pushing to challenge Jones next. He won the interim belt in 2023 over Sergei Pavlovich and defended it in July vs. Curtis Blaydes.
For now, we will all sit and wait to hear from the UFC regarding the potential news. And if so, what they take as the next step regarding Jones, Miocic and Aspinall.
