Torez Finney thought it was his time. Dana White didn’t agree.
White ripped into Finney following his win on the Contender Series this week. Finney was not awarded a contract with the UFC despite improving to 9-0 and winning for the second time on the show.

“Finney, now you were here last year and my recommendation was to go out and get some experience,” White said (thanks to Bloody Elbow for the quotes). “You’re young, obviously talented. You went out in one year and fought one fight.
“I’m brutally honest with this stuff; you’d get absolutely decimated in the UFC. Your performance last year was better than this performance. Come back to us and talk about the UFC (after three-or-four fights).”
Four fighters did earn future contracts from the night including Cody Haddson, Cortavious Romious, Rizvan Kuniev and Andreas Gustafsson.
Dana White Refuses To Grant Prospect His Wish
Finney had some big words to say about himself after the performance.
“I am the punisher,” he said. “Dana, please, if you can smell what Torrez is cooking.”
The middleweight scored a submission win vs. Yuri Panferov last October on the series. He finished Tyson Jeffries in May of this year but has not fought since.
