Din Thomas, part of the coaching staff for now-retired former UFC champion Amanda Nunes, believes we could see the legend return to action. But it would take a certain war of words to make it happen.
Nunes, a former two-division champion in the UFC, retired following a 2023 defense of the bantamweight belt. After besting Irene Aldana at UFC 289 on June 10, she would vacate the title 10 days later, along with the UFC featherweight belt.

Since, the division has been dominated by a handful, including Kayla Harrison. The former PFL star and Olympic gold medalist, though, has made it known she wants to face Nunes.
“At this point, no, I think her window for coming back passed,” Thomas told The Ariel Helwani Show (thanks to Bloody Elbow for the quotes). “I can’t see it happening. But it depends. If Kayla starts yapping, starts talking, I think she comes back.
“A few months to a year ago, Amanda called me and said, ‘I want to start training again.’ It takes hunger, motivation to be at that level consistently and it’s easy to say it now when you’re not training.”
Ironically enough, Harrison and Nunes both trained at one point under the American Top Team gym in Florida. But Nunes would leave following an issue, going the independent route while still seeing plenty of success.
Harrison, meanwhile, has rolled past Holly Holm and Ketlen Vieira to position herself at the top of the list of challengers to the belt.
