Karate Combat has the arena to put on an event featuring UFC legends such as Anderson Silva, Luke Rockhold and others.
The question is, though, can it all come together? And would fight fans be interested?
Rockhold, a former UFC champion, is working on it as we speak. Well, sort of, as he told JAXXON PODCAST.
“Yeah, Anderson Silva, (Michael Bisping) and Lyoto Machida all in one night,” Rockhold said (thanks to MMA Junkie for the quotes). “It’s a lottery pick. It’s me, Anderson, Lyoto and Bisping. Lottery pick, double fight, championship, Karate Combat.”
The 39-year-old Rockhold made his Karate Combat debut last month. He scored a third round finish vs. Joe Schilling in Dubai.
Luke Rockhold Floats Interesting Karate Combat Idea
Machida has worked with Karate Combat in the past. Bisping, meanwhile, has mentioned it would be interested in facing Rockhold again. The two share a bit of a rivalry from their UFC days.
Rockhold scored a second round submission vs. Bisping in 2014. He lost the middleweight title to him in 2016 via knockout. He also bested Machida via submission in 2015 on his way to claiming the belt.
Throw in Silva and you have four former UFC middleweight champions. And four guys who definitely carry some heavyweight name value with them.
Now, it remains to be seen if the stars can align and something can come together.
