Jorge Masvidal loves to talk up himself in the media. And that is exactly what the former UFC title contender is doing again.
In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Masvidal boasts that he is a bigger draw than Conor McGregor and that “Notorious” refuses to fight him.
“The UFC has tried to make this fight happen,” Masvidal said (thanks to Bloody Elbow for the quotes). “Conor doesn’t want it. He doesn’t want the damn fight. He never mentions my name but we’re the biggest fight possible.
“You think Michael Chandler sells more than me vs. Conor? Nobody in their right mind thinks that.”
Of course, the UFC has been trying to pair McGregor and Chandler together for months now. The two were coaches on The Ultimate Fighter and scheduled to meet this weekend.
However, a broken toe has forced McGregor back to the sidelines.
Jorge Masvidal: ‘I’m One Of The Biggest PPV Draws’
Masvidal, who announced his retirement in 2023 after a fourth consecutive loss, twice challenged for the UFC welterweight title. Both times, he was bested by Kamaru Usman.
According to reports, the events drew a combined two million pay-per-view buys.
“I’m one of the biggest pay-per-view draws of the UFC in the last five years,” Masvidal said. “Of course, we’d break records. But this guy (McGregor) won’t do it.
“In my future, I don’t see this fight happening unless I run into him in a parking lot.”
