While many UFC fans would scoff at the idea that Paddy Pimblett would have any chance in a fight against Michael Chandler, one notable fighter from the company actually thinks it’s a “winnable” scrap for “The Baddy.”
After six bouts inside the Octagon, England’s Paddy Pimblett has become one of the UFC’s most popular fighters at lightweight. The 30-year-old is 6-0 in the company and has scored big wins over two of the best 155-pound fighters of the last decade — Bobby Green and Tony Ferguson — in his last two bouts.

The most recent victory helped inch him closer to the top 10 in the lightweight rankings. It seems like he is on the verge of some huge matchups in 2025 against the stars of the division. One name that has been suggested in MMA circles as a potential opponent this year is former title challenger and Bellator legend Michael Chandler.
The 38-year-old has lost four of his last five and will likely have to face a foe lower in the rankings for his next fight. On the surface, it seems like it would be a bad matchup for Pimblett. Especially because Chandler’s recent defeats have come against top-five fighters in the division.
However, fellow Englishman and UFC welterweight Michael Page views it differently. And he sees a favorable matchup for “The Baddy” against “Iron.”
- Michael Chandler record: 23-9 (11 knockouts, 7 submissions)
Is Michael Chandler a winnable fight for Paddy Pimblett?

“Chandler is one of the most talented in terms of skill for skill across the board. So it’s a very big jump for Paddy,” Page told Poker Scouts this week. “But it is a winnable fight if Chandler is reckless. If Chandler continues trying to be entertaining and reckless, it is a winnable fight.
“But I think he’s going to be way more powerful. But again, if he’s reckless, Paddy can definitely take the fight off him.”
- Paddy Pimblett record: 22-3 (5 knockouts, 11 submissions)
The key point is if Michael Chandler is reckless he could be upset. And considering how he has fought in the UFC and will likely believe he is far better than the younger star, he probably will fight recklessly.
If this was four years ago a Pimblett win would be shocking. But a few months from turning 39 and with over 15 years of MMA wear and tear on his body, it would be foolish to overlook Pimblett in a possible clash.
