Henry Cejudo Declares Himself Next For Sean O’Malley After Champ Falls At UFC 306

Former champion Henry Cejudo came under fire on his own podcast from Sean O’Malley recently.

O’Malley was on Pound 4 Pound to discuss his upcoming bantamweight title defense vs. Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 306 this Saturday night.

While being interviewed by Cejudo and Kamaru Usman, O’Malley used the opportunity to poke Cejudo.

“Boys, you guys know I’m a very, very busy man,” O’Malley said (thanks to Bloody Elbow for the quotes). “I’ll keep this short. I cam here for two reasons.

“Praise to Kamaru, you’re an absolute legend; Henry, how’d you let (Aljamain Sterling) take you down so easy? You’re welcome.”

That was it from O’Malley, who promptly left the discussion.

But for Cejudo, he took it as an opportunity himself.

“Once he loses to Merab because I do believe he’s going to lose,” Cejudo said. “The next fight that’s up is me and him.”

Cejudo went on to admit that, while some might feel the bout doesn’t make sense, he believes it does.

“Granted I’ve lost two,” he said. “I lost to the former champion, I lost to the soon-to-be-pending world champion.

“I know that Merab is going to get this win.”

Cejudo is a former two-division UFC champion who claimed gold in wrestling at the Olympics. Following a brief retirement, he returned last year, falling to Sterling.

In February, he suffered a decision loss to Dvalishvili.
